About Horse Sense
Where Professional Therapy, Leadership Training, and Personal Growth are facilitated by our fine team of two-and-four-legged therapists.
Horse Sense of the Carolinas, Inc offers Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs,
targeting both personal and professional development in the form of
groups, workshops, and private sessions. Designed to help people
recognize and overcome their current patterns of reacting and
responding, Horse Sense's programs build upon strengths, while
challenging clients to discover new strategies. Working with our
professional staff and the horses, you can
- DISCOVER a solution-focused approach to current problems
- EXPERIENCE your resilience, your ability to provide clear answers to life's questions
-
CONNECT with the beauty, power and integrity of horses
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
At
Horse Sense, change occurs through experiential learning, or learning
by doing. The process begins by interacting with the horses, then
identifying and reflecting with the human staff on what is happening
between the client and the horses. Through trial and error of
completing a task with the horses, clients learn and practice new
strategies to achieve their goals outside the arena. Many times, there
is very little talking, as the horse provides critical feedback no
human can offer. As prey animals, horses are acutely aware of all we
say with our non-verbal communication, as they must decide in each
moment whether we are friend or foe. Horses pay most attention to how
we "feel" to them and then respond accordingly. By playing with horses,
we can learn the most valuable of lessons: that by changing ourselves,
we do have the ability to change the world around us.
ALTERNATIVES TO TRADITIONAL COACHING, COUNSELING & PERSONAL GROWTH
Horse
Sense offers unique and inspiring alternatives to traditional
office-based coaching, counseling and personal growth. We have two
distinct formats for meeting the needs of our clients: Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy & Equine Assisted Learning. The former is
solution-focused brief therapy for individuals, couples, &
families, including general health and lifeskills, parenting skills,
eating disorder treatment, and at risk youth & troubled youth. The
latter is focused on personal development both at home and in the
workplace, including honing skills related to corporate leadership
training, teambuilding activities, effective communication in the
workplace, management strategies and conflict resolution.
